Solid-phase microextraction gas-chromatography mass spectrometry of hand sanitizer

Everyday, hand sanitizers are used to clean hands and kill bacteria. A common ingredient is ethanol, an alcohol effective at killing most bacteria. However, methanol can sometimes be found in these samples. Methanol is highly poisonous not only to consume, but also to absorb into the skin. In this work, a method was developed to monitor methanol in hand sanitizers.
